Bring your own set of wooden chopsticks and a spoon and skip the plastic utensils when eating on the go. I always bring this set with me, when I am traveling in Asia, but it is also great for the lunchbox back home.

Sylvia and Nor-Nor at Chimmuwa

Chimmuwa in Mae Sot

The carrying case is made from hand spun, handwoven cotton by the women artisans at Chimmuwa. Chimmuwa is a part of Borderline Collective in Mae Sot, Thailand. The women artisan group was founded by Sylvia and Nor-Nor with the purpose of providing employment opportunities and job training for young female migrants and refugees from Myanmar.

Chimmuwa purchases the handwoven cotton fabric from villages in the northern part of Thailand and turn it into beautiful items . In the video, Sylvia tells us how she sources the cotton:

Hill tribes in villages in the Northern part of Thailand grow the cotton which is later harvested, spun and dyed with natural colors. Other tribes specializing in weaving then weaves the cotton yarn into beautiful patterns. In the video you can hear more about how the cotton fabric is produced.
