Beautiful bag made from handwoven cotton. The bag is designed and produced by the women at Chimmuwa, which is a part of Borderline Collective in Mae Sot. Chimmuwa was founded by Sylvia and Nor-Nor with the purpose of creating employment opportunities for young refugee and migrant women from Myanmar.
The handbag comes with a detachable shoulder strap, so you can carry it over your shoulder, when you need both your hands free for other things. The bag has a zipper, so your stuff won’t fall out, and there are two pockets inside: One with a zipper for important stuff such as passport and keys and one open pocket for your phone and other things you need at hand.
The bag has a really good size and it will fit most of the things you will need for a walk in the city during the day but also look chic combined with a nice dress and a pair of heels at night.
Hill tribes in villages in the Northern part of Thailand grow the cotton which is later harvested, spun and dyed with natural colors. Other tribes specializing in weaving then weaves the cotton yarn into beautiful patterns. In the video you can hear more about how the cotton fabric is produced.
